The effect of negative prompt “painting”

Recently, when I let Stable Diffusion 2.1 draw AI art, I often used “painting” both as positive and negative prompts. Using the same word, I specified a negative prompt and the other did not. Then, the specified one generates pictures that has nothing to do with drawing a picture, while the unspecified one generates pictures of drawing a picture one after another. So I think the negative prompt is effective.

Here are the four pictures that I had drawn in “painting night” without any negative prompts. All of them concerns painting.

On the other hand, the following 4 pictures have “painting” specified as a negative prompt. One of them contains something like a drawing, but the others are clearly not related to painting.
