Selected for Kokuten; Also Toko Exhibition and Spring Nika Exhibition

I submitted works to the Kokuten Exhibition, and one of the two pieces I entered—the one on the left—was selected.

I received a critique of the selected work at the Kokuten venue. The feedback session involved all applicants following the judges around as they commented on the works, and even after two hours, not all critiques were complete. However, since I had to remove the unselected piece, I left partway through. Fortunately, my work was among the first to be critiqued.

Before the critique, I was asked to explain the piece, so I mentioned that it was created using AI art. It seems there had been internal discussions about whether or not to accept AI-generated works. The piece on the upper right was rated lower, so it was natural that the one on the left was chosen. Although I personally found the right piece more compelling and had selected it for submission, ChatGPT had rated it slightly lower than the one on the left, so perhaps I should have taken that into account.

As I mentioned previously, I submitted two pieces to the Toko Exhibition, and one of them was selected. Upon visiting the venue, I found that there were no other abstract or CG-based works, and my brightly colored piece stood out among mostly pale-toned paintings. I received an individual critique at the Toko Exhibition, and according to that, they seem to be open to accepting CG works (which is likely why mine was accepted), but I realized that the kind of work I create may not be suited to that exhibition.

I have not yet delivered my works for the Genten Exhibition.
